MARCH - Experience the outback in March with a camp draft or head to the beach for the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships.
APRIL - Australian ANZAC day commemorations (most venues offer something over Easter).
MAY - In May, horseracing again features with The Prime Minister's Cup. There's a major Boat Show, Broadbeach Blues Festival at Broadbeach. Reward Mum with something special for Mother's Day.
JUNE - It's winter in June but that doesn't dampen the fun for the Wintersun Carnival at Coolangatta, Australia's largest rock 'n' roll festival, or the National firework championships.
JULY - marks the Gold Coast Airport Marathon with a field of elite athletes plus hundreds of participants. Christmas in July functions are planned in hinterland areas.
AUGUST - Look out for the Gold Coast Restaurant and Catering Awards, visit the Gold Coast Show at Parklands or visit Queensland's largest country show at Beaudesert.
SEPTEMBER – Look out for the Gold Coast Motor Bike Week, the Swell Sculpture Festival, In The Bin Film Festival, Tastes of Broadbeach Festival and the Gold Coast Show.
OCTOBER - The Lexmark Indy 300 brings champion motor sports stars who race a circuit around Surfers Paradise. There are plenty of social functions and a vibrant atmosphere.
NOVEMBER - November marks the environmental programs in the rainforest areas. Melbourne Cup day is an Australian tradition and you can celebrate Gold Coast style.
DECEMBER - Families enjoy the festive season in December with carols, The Bethlehem Experience, free entertainment in holidays and New Year's Eve fireworks from major parks and public places. |
